A Space Created to Meet a Genuine Need
In a city where facilities fully dedicated to film and audiovisual production remain limited, Orion Center for the Arts was established with the ambition of creating a professional environment in which young talents can develop their artistic skills.
For filmmaker Magellan KAHOZI, Director of the Center, this initiative responds first and foremost to a genuine need: providing creators with a suitable space for training, artistic development, and support throughout their audiovisual projects.
According to him, Lubumbashi needed a place capable of bringing together people passionate about film, acting, and production around a shared, forward-looking vision.
A Vision Centered on Film and Training
Orion Center for the Arts places film at the heart of its activities. Its objective is to give young artists, actors, and technicians access to practical training in filmmaking and audiovisual production.
Through workshops, introductory programs, and collaborative projects, Orion seeks to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of professional actors and creators capable of producing ambitious and authentic work.
For Magellan KAHOZI, training remains an essential part of developing a stronger and better-structured local film industry.
Supporting Local Talent and Creative Projects
Beyond training, Orion Center for the Arts also aims to support local artistic initiatives by providing guidance for film, documentary, and audiovisual projects.
The goal is to enable local talents to tell their own stories, celebrate Congolese culture, and produce work that represents the country in a positive and meaningful way.
The Center therefore aspires to become a genuine space for connection, collaboration, and creative expression for artists from Lubumbashi and beyond.
Building for the Future
Through Orion, Magellan KAHOZI and the Center’s team aim to play an active role in the development of the Congolese cultural and audiovisual landscape.
At a time when the creative industries are becoming increasingly important, this initiative seeks to create new opportunities for young people passionate about art, film, and visual storytelling.
Orion Center for the Arts is therefore pursuing a simple yet ambitious vision: to create a space where talents can learn, create, and bring their work to a wider audience.
“Cinema often begins with an idea, but it truly grows when people are given a space where they can meet, collaborate, and create together.” — Magellan KAHOZI
